Happy Birthday Kohen James

Today is our Kohen's 5th birthday, and so this post is for and about him.

It's funny looking back on the days surrounding Kohen's birthday and remembering how he came earthside, and how we loved him so much then and love him even more now.

I loved how he looked at me with big eyes the first time I held him, and I love how he looks at me now with his big blue eyes full of excitement, or seriousness when he explains things to me.

Speaking of explaining.... Kohen is a logophile. As his mother and the person who spend the most time with him, I seriously don't know what big word will come out of his mouth next. He hears them in places and tucks the words in his brain somewhere. I love watching people's faces when they see this little boy with a bad lisp, enunciate some vocabulary collosus.

Kohen takes life very seriously, always ready to challenge and debate any situation he doesn't believe is fair or right. On the other hand he loves jokes and puns. It's fun to watch him ask a stranger why the chicken went to the gym...to work on his pecks!

He has a talent for making friends out of strangers. He makes friends out of anyone, of any age. I've seen him sit and have very lengthy conversations with 80 year old ranchers. I've taken him to events where he knows nobody, and when we leave he tells me about his new best buds who are a handful of years older than him. He yells "I love You!!" to MY friends when we're leaving their house or if he see them in the grocery store.

All in all.... he's the boy this family needed when he blew in with a blizzard five years ago. His birth was peaceful and perfect just like the falling snow that night. He changed our lives for the better and we will always be thankful for his existence in our life.
